SILVER

COLLECTION

BORN FOR THE SILVER SCREEN!

Silver has been recognised around the world as a revered and magnificent precious metal. Used initially not only for sophisticated and beautiful jewellery, but also for early currency. Large-scale silver mining developed in Anatolia by 3000 BC, to meet the demand from the first ancient cities. It has long been recognised as a signifier of wealth and status.

Sterling silver is an alloyed form of silver which is much more suitable for use in fine jewellery. Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver, but in this form, the precious metal is too soft and malleable for most jewellery. To overcome this, fine silver is alloyed with copper to create sterling silver, which is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. This percentage of silver is why you will sometimes hear sterling silver referred to as 925 silver.

All Empress Jewellery’s pieces are created with sterling silver, and hallmarked with the 925 stamp. Sterling silver is illustrious and timeless, and this beautiful alloy more than deserves its place as one of the most loved precious metals.
