Citrine is a highly sought after stone with a stunningly beautiful colour. Its colouration can vary from pale yellow to a deep orange-red. Citrine owes its colour to iron impurities within the Quartz at the time of its formation. Though Citrine deposits could be found all over the world, now the gemstone is much harder to come by. It is currently mined in Brazil and Uruguay.
 
In ancient times Citrine was often referred to as Chrysolitus, Greek for Golden Stone. Throughout the Middle Ages, Citrine was known as “the merchant’s stone” or “the money stone” as it was believed to bring prosperity and wealth to those who wore it.
